here are a few others questions I needed.... since you all think i'm super LAZY... lol

(3x²)(x²+4xy-7y²) Multiply

(6a^5+4)(5a^5-5) Find the product using FOIL

(36x^6-36x^5) / (4x) Divide

was this really difficult for people? dropped out of high school and I got the answer in my head.
p(-2) = 2(-2)^2-3(-2)+3
2(4)-3(-2)+3
P(-2) = 8 - - 6 + 3
P(-2) = 8 + 6 + 3
P(-2) = 17 should be the answer to the question
P(-2)/-2 = 17/-2
P = -8.5

It shows that you dropped out.

Just learn it, they're all very simple -- (1) distribute the 3x^2, (2) FOIL takes 10 seconds, (3) divide each term from the numerator by 4x. You're going to fail your test otherwise :/

oh? because as I remember from i think 9th grade to find the value of xy=10 when y =2 you divide both sides by 2 to find the value of x
which is exactly what I did
the equation had multiply by -2 on the left, I divided by -2 on both sides to remove the -2 on the left, which gave P a value of -8.5

what are you saying I did wrong?
I gave the answer to the question then I took it a step farther.
while it's true that I dropped out, it was not due to grades. it was because I didn't care to continue going to something as stupid as school. I'm on the verge of being Microsoft certified and making $40/hr w/o a high school diploma. I've got a conditional offer, I just have to get the certification (which there's free training/practice tests for the certification on .microsoftvirtualacademy.com/ and I'm a Microsoft partner so certifications are about $100 each.

P(x) is a function and is already given by 2x²-3x+3. It doesn't have any constant value. Saying that P = -8.5 is nonsensical, it's not a variable you can solve for. The notation P(-2) doesn't mean "P * -2", it means "the function P(x) when x = -2"

so what you're saying is it's impossible to find the value of P in P(x)=17 when x has a value?

If P(x) is representing a function, then you can not find the value of P....you can find the value of P(x) evaluated at a given value of x.

If what you're typing is meant to be P * x where P and x are both constants, then yes you can solve for P if given the value of x.

P is the function name. i think you just got confused by the notation. P(x) = 17 says the function P always has a value of 17 regardless of the x value.
