I'll feel bad if I don't though!

Here is the other question:

Given the following reaction:

Mg + 2HCl --> MgCl2 + H2(g)¬

Calc how many mls of 2.5M HCl would have been needed for this reaction if the captured hydrogen gas is at a pressure of 1.6 atm., a volume of 2 Liters and a temperature of 75 degrees farenheit

So for H2: P=1.6 atm, V= 2 Liter, T = 297.03 Kelvin and I went ahead and balanced it.

Not sure where I should start from here?

PV=nRT

you have P,V,R,T
solved for n

you also have the given stoichiometric ratios

So in this case, it's 2 mols of HCL for 1 mol of H2 gas
----
but we have to take the fact that it wants HCL in mili liters and that it has molarity

do that first and we can go from there
M = Mol/L

One thing that confuses me is when we have things like HCL and coefficients. Does CL count as two or four?

No, HCl counts as 1 thing

Yeah I'm at a lost of what to do next...

is it (2) / (2) ??

What is 2/2?

did you find n first?

n for H2 I assume?

I got (1.6 atm)(2 L) / (0.0821) (297.03 kelv) = 0.131221955

if it's a 2/1 ratio would that mean that HCL has 0.26244391 mols?

Yes

like, 4A +6b => 2C

means for every 1 c there must be 2 A

Now you have the mols of HCl needed, you can determine how many mL of HCl you need at 2.5 molarity
