When 10.00 grams of Al react with excess H3PO4, 30.0 grams of AlPO4 are produced. What is the percent yield of this reaction?
2Al(s) + 2 H3PO4 --> 2 AlPO4 (aq) + 3H2(g)

What do the letters in the parenthesis stand for?
This is already balanced?

Yes it is already balanced.
I don't feel like pulling up a periodic table, but the letters stand for the state of the molecule, aq= Aqueous/ g= gaseous/ s= solid

right on, i was just checking on my paper to see if i was
does it matter what the state of the molecule is? or is it just something thrown in there to confuse me?

For the purpose of this question and likely any you're going to be receiving, it doesn't matter.

Edit: I take back that last part. It will come into play for you when they give you info in terms of volumes. --> Using density to convert to mass for solids/liquids and ideal gas for to convert to mass for gasses.
But for this question it doesn't matter

We are going to be learning volumes in the next few days
