Ok so we had to interpret Maya Angelou's "On The Pulse of Morning" today and I usually do
participate in class discussions but I did so more frequently today and I did pretty well!

I analyzed the surrounding text, used context clues, and kinda just thought more figuratively. I hope
this'll work for the rest of the semester, thanks for your help guys!

also pay attention to the author. if it's something you're reading in American school and the author is black, the interpretation very often has something to do with racism/prejudice/suffering/etc.

Yeah, teacher mentioned that haha.

She does mention how the past is full of hardship and violence that her generation has already "paid for." And our generations simply have to move forward yet we don't live to our fullest potential. We, instead, keep our pride and whine about everything.
