as far as I can tell (1/2)^ - 3 = .125
0.5^3=0.125 because you're cubing the half, ie., 0.5 x 0.5 x 0.5.
0.5^-3 > The negative causes you to "flip" the fraction, resulting in 0.5^-3=2^3=8.
In reality, this is because (1/2)^-3= 1 / [(1/2)^3] = 1/[1/8] = 8.
