How much energy (to four significant figures) would be required to completely separate all the nucleons of a beryllium-9 nucleus, the atom of which has a mass of 9.0122u ?
Express your answer using four significant figures.
Eb = ___MeV

Eb = [mnucleons-mnucleus] x 931.5 MeV/u
Eb = 60.719 MeV total energy

Part B

60.719 MeV/9 nucleons = 6.747 MeV/nucleon

What is the minimum uncertainty in the speed of an electron that is known to be somewhere between 0.050nm and 0.20nm from a proton?

Have to use Heisenberg's uncertainty principle here...

delta v = h/4pi*m*deltax
do this for both .050 nm and .20 nm to find the uncertainty in the speed of the electron
