Arc beams are a lot of work. You gotta start with Vx/Vy Mx/My and then relate those to the axial and shear forces and moments based on sin/cos.

A tapered frame? what a dick

Might try my hand at the arc beam tomorrow. I've seen it before and have a book for reference.

Second one will be a work of art.

Yup 3 weeks to do it. Taper frame is harder than the arc one?
I was googlin for some arc beams but I didn't find much. I was hoping there would be an example somewhere where it's already done so I can follow the steps

And what's even more dick about him is that he won't even look at it or grade it. He makes his TA grade everything! Including final exams hw project etc and that's cuz he is the chair of the CIVIL ENngineer department in my school

This is from Shigley's section on curved members.
Unfortunately this was the only material that we had in my class when this subject was covered, so I'm anything but an expert. :\
We got thrown in the deep end just like you.

So, the only important equations are under 4-38 of what dont posted.
After you get those written ,you can plot.
Use castigliano's normally. Book tries to prove that the other terms are insignificant
