whatever you do, just make sure it's fun...that's the only way to keep kids engaged
(go outdoors and show how things you teach can be applied to real life...i.e. take a picnic where there are trees, cars, dogs, etc. and interactively teach them)

This is the problem with the education system. Teachers (or aspiring teachers) going on Internet gaming forums to get ideas on how to inspire learning.

What I have found quite amusing for learning is essentially the chain - word game, or some variant of it. Make a person say a word they know - e.g. apple, then the next person must say a word with the starting lette of the end of that word said.
e.g. Apple -> Elephant -> Turtle. e.t.c.
If someone doesn't know a word to say, you could choose a word for everyone to learn.
If a person says a word, you can explain what it means to the class.

Associating pictures to words helps with the learning process a lot. Things the can relate to every day and use with each other are great too.
have them draw pictures of things in their every day life and then teach them how to say it in English?
