Okay, so in english we are doing debates

i was assigned the topic of gun control

the side FOR gun control :/

I am having trouble finding some hard evidence that gun control works.

do you guys have any ideas?

but most posters will come with idiotic statements against gun control
jut look at the number of homicide by guns in varies countries and you will notice that proper gun control works
but in the usa a substantial cultural change would be needed

Everyone else is too; your class kind of fucked you. I would call up Piers Morgan and ask for some pointers on arguing obnoxiously. Then at least you can be entertaining.

As a vocal opponent of gun control, I can't help you with this topic.

On the other side, having a great friend who is an enonomist(econ professor as well), and a statistician who previously worked for BOTH the Republican and Democratic parties simultaneously; I know you can skew statistics to benefit whatever argument you want. I'd start by perusing Democratic party(particularly of the liberal variety) websites and see what you can cook up.

Here are the biggest hurdles to your debate, btw:

*Highest gun-related crime rates in this country stem from the cities/districts with the most-strict gun control laws(i.e. NYC, Washington DC, Chicago, et. al.)
*Highest gun-related crime rates in the world stem from the countries which have the most-strict gun control laws(i.e. England, Australia)

and then comes the disinformation spread by the nra and associated group which comes up with claims like

gun rights are in the constitution, they wont be going anywhere

In a debate you could probably bring up the fact that USA is #14 in the world on the most homicides by gun violence and have a very lapse gun control, and the countries that are before them in the list are not well known for being lawfull countries at all no matter what their laws say.

Also this statistic is taken by 100k population so size of country does not matter. Theres alot of statistics on Nation master if you want to criticize the lapse gun control of America or any other country to be honest :F
