I'm wondering what a good gap is to get enough skill points for 2 trees but not max everything because some of them are crap. Right now I'm at lvl 23 with a gap of 8 and it's quite slow. I have roughly 4.8k sp.

you must farm 300k+ sp and gap 9 at ongs

imo say what char u want to do what build ? but its always about 1m sp ++ to farm full char too 90 lvl

Farming can sometimes get boring due to not enough exp gain to lvl up, so sometimes when i reach a certain lvl of sp that i can upgrade what i want with having 10-15k still then i lower the gap to lvl up some more and restart the sp farming. Or you can get the premium pass or whatever that things called for an xtra 10% to all stats, phys dmg, mag dmg, exp gain, sp gain, etc.

yeh...i don't plan on waiting until i get 300k sp from ongs to fully farm a character. i don't care if i don't have every skill maxed out because half of them are crap. I'm making int s/s light/ice with maybe some into force for res.

i'll probably save up some sp now since i hear it's easier to farm early on. then close the gap a little bit.
