Does anyone know how to get PoGo promo codes or what they even do?

You get one by email when you stop playing the game X days. The email invites you back to the game with a free 1x regular egg incubator with a promo code that is exclusively for your account.

There are special Safari Zone events where you register on a website. If you get selected to go, they mail you free stuff and email you a QR code ticket. You buy a plane ticket to fly to the location or spoof there then spin a special Pokestop then scan your QR code or enter the promo code manually. If there's event issues, they may open the event to everyone in that city or area, you don't need a QR code to enter. If you go there without a QR code ticket, you see nothing in the designated area. No point in going there.

There are other special events that don't require website registration where you buy something special from a store or restaurant in that specific country, they give you a QR code ticket. You spin a special Pokestop then enter your promo code to activate the special Pokemon spawn. If you don't have a QR code ticket, you just see regular Pokemon spawns. No point in going there.
