So I started playing Gardevoir-GX asap, Both IRL and Online.
Things were great in testing in both Worlds and Post Rotation formats.
after the final results from the masters division in the world tournament, The Gardy Hype was REAL!
Now it seems 4 outta 5 matches online are Gardevoir-GX....
So many ppl net decking the worlds lists and youtube lists....
well I fully plan on keeping Gardy IRL but getting ready for the Hartford regional i wanted to test other options.
Jumping of the bandwagon if you will...
Anyways I have been testing Alolan Ninetales-GX
The deck is great and consistent, But Does its stand up to the power house that is Gardevoir-GX....
why yes.... yes it does.
The fast pace you can start your game plan is part of beating this match-up.
Ideally you want to end your first turn with...
Tapu Koko (promo)
2-3 Vulpix
and a remaraid
This is the start to your win condition
Alolan Ninetales-GX is your main attacker
Tapu Koko is great free retreat and early damage spread
ofc Alolan Nintales is a great back up to defend if they get gardivor-GX out
The best case is you spread damage with Tapu Koko then get easy ko's with Ninetales-GX
Here you want to kill of ralts on the bench and limit the rate at wich they get gardevoirs out.
But dont fret if you can't out pace them or dont have a way to get to Koko
Tapu Fini is the star player for your early control of gardevoir
with 1 water energy the GX attack of Fini literally allows you to control the rest of the match up
the first gardevoir they get out welp.... put it and all cards attached to back in the deck...
from this point on you should never loose this match up locking down the opponents ability to get out gardevoirs.
Locking them out of the first generally means you can control the game to the point where they never have more than 1 gardy.
with a max of one gardy they cant pump the energy they will need to 1 hit ko your pokemon.
the use of Tapu Fini's Gx attack is generally never a set back in terms of not being able to use Ninetales Gx attack.
this is due to the fact you set them so far behind the damage your ninetales will take from this point on is negligible.
rarely will your ninetales be over come if you keep a good rotation and maintain controll of the games.
Most matches end with a prize win
you should collect your 6 prizes in most cases before your opponent can get 2-3 off of you.
I will continue to test this deck extensively and provide updates along the way.
Good Match-ups Include
Gardevoir-GX
Most Evolution Decks
Volcan-GX/Turt-GX
Even match-ups Include
Ninetales-GX
Espeon-GX
Metalgross-GX
Bad Match-ups
Rogue....
i don't see any meta decks that are a "bad match-up"
this is mostly due to the ability to control the main deck that supports your weakness
making even weakness match-ups more even then bad.
The deck runs the following Pokemon
4x Alolan Vulpix
3x Alolan Ninetales-GX
1x Alolan Ninetales
1x Remaraid
1x Octillery
1x Tapu koko
1x Tapu fini-GX
2x Tapu lele-GX
card i 100% recommend
2-3x Guzma
3-4x Ultra Ball
1-2x Brooklet hill
4x N
4x Sycamore
Bridget
4x DCE
the rest of the list should be
8x WaterE
Float stones
field blowers
choice bands
bodybuilding dumbells
your choice of Supporters
maybe max potions if you like them... acerola poke center lady ect.
I am not stating this is the best deck of the format, just a great option for those who don't want to play/ can't get/ or want to jump off the Gardevoir bandwagon
i will be testing this deck for some time and will update my findings if interest is shown.
i can post my exact list i am currently testing upon request.
please feel free to post your opinions or deck changes you would make.
also What decks are you playing Post-Rotation and how do you think the meta will play out over the next few months?
