I keep trying to read about it on bulbapedia and other sites. I don't fking understand it.

So you can have 2x pokemon that are of the same exact nature but one can still be drastically better?

How do I find this stuff out?
How do I decide which is best?
Do I want IV and EV to match?
Does one not really matter?


I understand whatever one it is that adds 10% from one stat in growth and takes 10% from another stat in growth.

It is the one that holds a pokemons highest values I don't get.

So Latios. Very common pokemon in OU metagame

Base Stats
HP: 80
ATK: 90
DEF: 80
SP.ATK: 130
SP.DEF: 110
SPEED: 110

Total Max Stats (as in the number you see when you look at the pokemon's stats)
HP: 301
ATK: 216
DEF: 196
SP.ATK: 296
SP.DEF: 256
SPEED: 256

Min Stats Are
HP: 270
ATK: 185
DEF: 165
SP.ATK: 265
SP.DEF: 225
SPEED: 225

So IVs tell you their max potential 0 being lowest and 31 being highest.

EV are more simpler and can be easier to learn, so a pokemon has 6 different stats as seen above,
and the max amount of EVs a pokemon can have are 508. a single stat can have up to 252

in latios' case a perfect IV(31) 252 EV Speed Stat goes from:
256=>319

A +Speed nature Like Timid will boost its base speed stat by 10% or x1.1
Making that 319=>350 Speed
