So atm i have those two, but i dont know which one would be better to upgrade, and in the long run be a better venosaur

Im guessing the ivysaur, since it will probably be around the same, so i save 25 candies?

Or what do you guys think? :)

I'm in a similar situation, not sure which to do lol.
Although I find lots of bulbas, even found a venasaur but it got away from me.

oh, nice lol!

just noticed, it costs 2500 stardust to power up my ivy, and 3000 for my bulba, wtf is up with that?

should i power up my ivy before evolving, if thats what im gonna stick to, ir just wait?

they are very close stat wise (IVS)
i'd pick ivysaur in this case
or continue hunting for a bulba/ivysaur with better ivs (any bulba hatched from an egg is likely to be better than both of these overall)

explanation of the stardust thing;

see the white semicircle bar above the pokemon? that's their level. you'll notice bulbasaur is slightly closer to the current maximum. after you power up ivysaur 1-2x it'll most likely be 3000 stardust as well

alright, i might evolve the ivy then
i saw someone said that its every 4 power up the stardust cost increases by 500.

also the IVS, i dont really know anything about that lol, tried to read a bit about it today, but i dont get any clever on that topic lol. Is it really that big of a deal those IVS? I mean how big of a difference is it gonna be anyway?

IVs stay the same through evolution. Weight/height/moves do not.

IVS can be looked at like bonus stats
15/15/15 = a pokemon that will be roughly 5% better than any pokemon it's same level
7/7/7 = a pokemon that will be average
0/0/0 = a pokemon that will be roughly 5% worse than any pokemon it's same level

the higher the level your trainer/pokemon the more noticeable this difference will be
for the average joe it won't make much difference but for the hardcore/competitive 95%+ IVs are going to be a given

there are 3 ivs (attack defense stamina) and they range from 0-15

there's a decent calculator on pokeassistant you can find via google. it's what i used to check your two pokemon
it won't tell you your exact IVS unless the pokemon is a very high level but it can give you a very close estimate
as far as I know there's no other way to calculate exact ivs yet without using 3rd party software or powering up the pokemon and gradually refining the results

i definitely recommend checking any pokemon you've hatched from an egg and any pokemon you're thinking about putting lots of candy/stardust into

use the calculator, and always evolve it first to refine and narrow down the stats. You dont wanna waste dusts and CP's by upgrading 1-2tier pokemons, as the 3rd tier ones give higher CPs.
So basically, anything under 90% i'd personally not even bother and just transfer them for candies.
~5% may sound small, but in the end game it can prolly make a difference, also movesets are much more important. If the pokemon has crappy moves, no point upgrading it either.
