I played PokeMMO in fhe first days. Full of bugs and nearly not anything implemented.
But I loved it, because Gen 1 is my fav.
Sadly I cannot tell anything about it these days.
But always worth to take a look when you prefer to walk around and play with others.

Me, I'm focused on PvP, so I use the Player Search System from X/Y and ORAS.
Also I play the battle simulator Pokémon Online.

I can recommend this one, too.

So please tell me where you're focused on.
The training and traveling or the battle against others?

I can't find anywhere to actually download the game , that is the issue. I have been trying emulators and ROMS but can't find one that will work

In this case PokeMMO is your goal.
But normally the download should be kinda easy (PokeMMO.eu) and the roms are wide spread on several sites.
