random battles are awesome, and they get extremely competitive once you hit 1600 elo or thereabouts

for those who don't know -- they're actually not as random as the name suggests

there's certain criteria for the composition of each team

whats the criteria? i get frustrated when i face the dude with 2 omegas ( raquazza and groudon for example) and i'm sitting on basically a mono grass team >.<
I feel like its very hit and miss... just starting though too.. working my way up though; i think i'm at 1200 from 2 days of playing it.

uhhhh... no lol
randoms are completely random :P
all the skill in pokemon is in the team building anyway
the rest is just if you predict correctly which isn't a real skill tbh since predictions are only educated guesses no matter how you look at it
and knowledge of viable movesets

as for op, i play on the ou tier as i find it to be the most fun.

i suggest you do some research before trying to correct me, cause there's an old smogon post somewhere that goes into detail about how the random battle teams are generated

random battle is more skill than luck, which is why the top 50 players on the leaderboards all have between a 60 and 90% winrate

I suggest you think for yourself before you speak, instead of just agreeing with "an old post on smogon somewhere"

Who was the poster of that topic, a smogon moderator or something? And what relevance is their opinion? Because they moderate a chat or forum or something? I guess whatever they say goes...

Anyway. How is it in any way skillful if I have 4 nfes against your 3 ubers? Especially in a game like Pokemon where there are critical hits, burns, freezes, parahax, ect all based on a Random Number Generator...
random battles involving skill.... Lol please

And about those win %'s, I don't know if they are true and I'm not able to check if they are because I'm at work. But why wouldn't a lucky player be able to win 60-90%? You think luck means winning exactly 50% of the time? They won most of the time because they are lucky players, what exactly is your point?

let me be a little more clear,

YES the post was made by a smogon programmer in order to dispel some of the common misconceptions about random battle

a lot of ubers, due to low lvl, gimped movesets, stat spreads and such, are complete trash in random battle. a low tier pokemon like tauros that has a lvl 86, sheer force and life orb set, is effectively an uber in random battle.

all that is to say, traditional tiers have almost no relevance to random battle

also there are absolutely no nfe pokemon in random battle, so that comment alone does nothing but bolster my argument that you have no idea what you're talking about

one does not "luck" their way to a 60-90% winrate over 500+ games
