Hello, so I've been only playing Pokemon Soul Silver and have been putting together fun, competitive teams for wifi battles.
I noticed that I have a really good Venonat that I would like to train into a super stud, when I looked online and saw that in games X and Y Venomoth would have a third ability along with Tinted Lenses and Dust Shield, and that the third ability was preferred over the other two.

My question is: is it worth it to train a Pokemon such as this in Gen 4 then send it over to Gen 6, when it looks like I might be behind the times?

No. Buy Black2 or White2. You can literally hack in any pokemon from gens 1-5 with any moveset, nature, ability, (As long as it is legal and available in the game. Not like a Magikarp with Aeroblast or anything absurd like that.)
and transfer to X/Y.

not everyone likes to cheat to get thier pokemon
