When looking at the learnset (moves) of a pokemon on bulbapedia it shows the type of move and if it's Physical, Special or Status.
But when looking at them for Gen 3 it doesn't show them. Does that mean it doesn't take effect? Which would also mean the attack and special attack IV on a pokemon doesn't matter? :/

I'm wondering if I should use Growlithe or Vulpix in Pokemmo because of this.

E: Is this correct?
The attack stat fuels the following types:

Normal
Fighting
Flying
Rock
Ground
Ghost
Steel
Bug
Poison

The special attack stat fuels the following types:

Fire
Water
Grass
Dragon
Dark
Electric
Ice
Psychic

physical/special split happened in gen4

before gen4, each types were either physical or special, after gen4, each attack have their own physical/special split

so in pokemmo, fire type moves will always be special, and fighting type moves will always be physical

What hes trying to say is. In pkmn gold silver up to pkmn ruby and sapphire. Iv/ev still exists. But there is no pyhs/spec attack there is only regular attack and special attack. Which you have already shown in your original post. Special attack in gen 3 is ice, psy, ghost, fire water so on and so forth.

To ev train your pkmn
Spec- abras, gastly,
Regular atc-machop

If you're trying to figure out whowould be your best strictly fire pokemo, check the max special attack of arcanine and ninetales and you will find out who is better.
