Alright. So I used to play pokemon a lot as a kid. But I haven't played since Pokemon Silver, easily over 10 years ago.

I just picked up Pokemon Black 2. So all these awesome new features are brand spanking new to me. Such as GTC and pokemon-gl.com.

Anyway, so I'm sure ill learn more as I play.

As for my first question, at what point in the game do I gain access to the GBC within poke centers to participate in random or rated battles? I just won my 2nd badge, so idk if I just haven't moved far enough into the game? I can access the GTC for trades, but haven't actually made any trades. Which leads me to my next question...

When looking for trades, why can I only look up pokemon that I have seen? How is it I look for trades for pokemon that I HAVEN'T seen. For example, pikachu, charmander, squirtle, and bulbasaur I have not seen. How do I get my hands on them within the trading feature?

Also, I'm looking to add friends to my pal... Log... Thing... (I can't remember what it's called, lol). So that way I have some people to interact with for battles, trading and such.

One last question, which is pretty random, are you able to breed pokemon in this version and hatch eggs?

I'm not sure of most of the new features, so if anyone could post some of the new stuff that I wouldn't be aware of that have come out between now and silver, it would be greatly appreciated.

I would assume you can breed them since all have been doing it since Silver vers.
And more than likely, you gain access to the other pokes when you beat the elite four (or whatever they are now).
Of course, I haven't played since Diamond version (I just beat it and sold it. Just didn't like where it was going).

my guess is you need to beat the elite four for the GBC. sounds likely.

For trading pokemon you haven't seen, the only way i know of is from doing a trade with someone in your palpad who has it.

Breeding is in the game and on route 3, need to beat E4 again first. In this, you can eventually (after level 15 join avenue and beating E4) get a nursery shop to hatch eggs faster, which is very handy. As you can hatch ~10 pokemon immediately with a level 10 nursery. Or you can do it the slow way like in silver and later of running around for x amount of steps.


That's covered most of it, i wouldn't say here is a particularly great place for getting answers for this sort of stuff, try serebii (just google it), very very good site and the forums their are also fantastic.
Currently not worked out how to allow internet traffic through my DS as my net is lame (i'm pretty sure i know how, but it requires removing a pretty substantial firewall which i dont want to leave off) so no point adding me to palpad really.


If you arn't aware of what EV's and IV's are, you will find huge difficulty in online battles i think. Especially if you don't breed to get the correct nature either.
