I never really understood the huge debate on which Pokemon to take for PvM. Just take your starting Pokemon, use it for every battle, win the game. Every game has been the same in that regards.
The only reason I found to carry other Pokemon is to have an extra chance to heal my starter Pokemon. I just finished Black and I only fought with Tepig/Pignite/Emboar the whole game. By the time I got to the elite Four my Emboar was level 80 vs their level 60 monsters. Ezpk
