No man pokemon are predetermined. You spend the exact same leveling up a pidgey with 3/4 potential bar as you do a pidgeot with 3/4 potential bar. When you evolve a pokemon they evolution has a multiplier so even if you evolve pidgey when your first get him.... or Mac his potential bar out then evolve him twice gel have the exact same cp. So

Exactly. Evolving and powering up weak pokemon is a complete waste you will find substantially bettere at higher levels. My suggestion while leveling up... obtain a fuck ton of candies
I mean like 20+ evolutions wOrth... these will be just scrap peon so only evolve they're first stage, and obviously focus on easy to obtain common pokemon like pidgey, weedle, caterpi, ratatta....
What I do is I use a lure module (try to find a place where you can activate two or even three at the same time) use an insense and use a lucky egg.
(Make sure you have a good amount of pokeball) you will catch 1 pokemon every 3 minutes with lure every 5 with incense.
Catch all the pokemon and evolve everything in your inventory you get 500exp for a evolution... 1k exp for a lucky egg evolution!!
e/ Also what's the catch rate being stationnary and far from pokestops ?
