Online battling is competitive. You can not use these Pokemon in the 'special' VGC category online, you can use them in the other battles.

Toy's r Us and walmart comps don't count

Banned in Global link Tournament, showdown usually follows the same rules....so what comps you talkin about?

"according to Serebii.net, include the fact that battles will be Double Battles in which players can use any pokémon found in their National Pokédex, with the exception of Mewtwo, Xerneas, Yveltal or Zygarde. In addition, pokémon cannot be transferred from previous generations."

Nintendo smoked crack when they programmed the "hack detection" in the pokébank.
Only thing they could do to save face is just outright ban migrated pokémons.
So, only pokémons caught in X/Y are allowed in competative play (VGC).
