Garchomp is decent at best. Stats are good such as attack and speed, but other stats lack a little, and moveset isn't amazing.

Cyndaquil can get through the first half of the game solo if he's all you use. It's cake.

Yes, and finding them is a little easier since you don't need to go in the pokedex all the time.
