Open bnet was a sandbox. Closed bnet was about accumulating value in one way or another.

yep. if they would just be like "here guys a new server with no gps spoofing ban, but we'll start real banning you on the other server." i think it'd solve alot of the problems.

that way casuals get their dreamland and legits can have as fair a competition as geographically possible lols.


edit: actually i think it would be way more fair to start a new server with full bans for it that way everyone starts fresh without dealing with gyms packed with nest farmers.

Aside from the cost of doing that (pointless for them as a company), I don't think that would entice anyone. The game is all about accumulation, collection, competition, value... it's about how you stand against other people. There are no features in the game that are even remotely interesting in a sandbox scenario. The game is purely interesting because everyone is all up against each other (value can be attributed to things that way).

Honestly Nintendo hopefully has woken up and has chosen to do one of two things:
1) Help support Niantic to make Pokemon Go something great (make major patch updates, and future major expansion updates).
and/or
2) Create a Pokemon Go 2, from the ground up, to succeed Pokemon Go. Done right.

competition? with who?

i can go slam gyms all day and i never feel like i actually accomplished anything other than a minigame on the side lol.

compete by comparing what i've caught against what others have caught? uhh i don't know what other people are catching lol. i have no way to know how far anyone around me has progressed without asking...thats social play not competition.

that just leaves collecting and considering some pokemon require a flight to a different country or a lucky egg hatch after 10km i don't think anyone is lining up for that grind for the next 6 months lol.

this game may as we be a sandbox because there isn't much player interaction unless you physically go find that player in the real world.

you have time to catch 50,000 pokemon for level 39-40? you have time to walk in circles collecting all those pokeballs? I damn sure don't. Doesn't mean I don't still want to play the game & like I said in another thread any game where the more $$ you spend the better you do I say fuck the man I will cheat my ass off before I spend a dime. I don't mind paying $50 bucks for a good game but a game that's set up to perpetually drain your cash forget it
