Because I have been getting impatient waiting for the release of Diablo III Beta, I have decided to attempt the Nuzlocke challenge to help pass the time. I originally saw one of these threads a few months back. It seemed to really give the game a fun twist and I'd love to be able to say I've completed the challenge! This thread is my way to keep track of my progress.

The rules are as follows:
  • Any Pokemon Who Faints Is Considered Dead And Must Be Released
  • Each Newly Acquired Pokemon Must Be Nicknamed To Increase The Heartbreak Should He Die
  • Only One Ball Can Be Bought At Each PokeMart
  • The Only Pokemon Eligable For Capture Are The First Ones Encounterd In A New Area
  • If The First Pokemon Encountered In A New Area Faints Or Flees, Then A New One Cannot Be Captured Until The Next Area Is Reached
  • A "New Area" By My Definition Is Any Place Between Two Towns (A Cave Also Constitutes A "New Area")
  • The Only Medicine That Can Be Bought From A PokeMart Are Antidotes
  • All Items Found Out In The World Are Fair To Be Used At Any Time
  • No Pokemon Can Be Used If Bought Or Traded For
  • (I May Add Rules As I Think Of Them, So If You Can Think Of Any Please Let Me Know!)

And so I begin my journey. I have named myself Joe, which is my real name, in order to really place myself within the game. My starting pokemon is a Charmander that I have decided to name Deckard in honor of the great Deckard Cain, one of the main characters in Diablo III, the very game that has driven me to attempt this challenge. My rival is named Jimbo, named after one of my dormies, Jimbo Slice, who is typically my video game adversary. We are often challenging each other to games of Super Smash Bros., Mario Kart, etc.. This will be just another video game in which I can be superior! After defeating Jimbo, Deckard and I can finally set off on our journey to Pewter City to face Brock. I am beyond excited to see the first pokemon that awaits me that I can add to the party!

Glad to see more of these. I lost track of my one, but have been bored lately. You might have just inspired me to start again.

Goodluck with the journey. Is it Fire-Red or the original Red?

Yours is on page 5, that's where I got the rules and whatnot. I had to look yours up when I decided to do it :D
And original Red, nostalgia got the best of me! Thanks for showing me the challenge in the first place
Keep me updated! It's nice to see how someone else is progressing!

So I began my journey, and trained Deckard up to level 15. At this time, I moved on to route 22 to fight Jimbo. His Squirtle posed quite the challenge, seeing how it knows Bubble, but in the end I was victorious. After his timely demise, I returned to Oak where I received five pokeballs since he was cheap when Pokemon Red first came out so I had to earn them. Now I may finally begin my trek of capturing pokemon and and allowing my party to grow; having just one pokemon in the party isn't the most assuring feeling in the world.

So as it turns out, I overtrained Deckard. He's too strong to weaken any wild pokemon since he's already level 18 and evolved. He solo'd Pewter Gym with ease, showing that weakness to a certain type means nothing! So now I trek off to Mt. Moon to see what awaits in there! I only hope that I might actually capture a new addition to the party!

And so my story must abruptly come to an end. Deckard fought valiantly but it simply was not enough. Because I trained him far beyond what I should have, I could not weaken any wild pokemon enough to capture them. While in Mt. Moon, I was forced to fight a Rocket Grunt, and in doing so I was sand-attacked thrice and could not hit that damned Sandshrew for the life of me. When I finally managed to land a hit, he was easily felled. Next came the Ratatta, what a joke. Finally, the last pokemon came out before I could be on my merry way: Zubat. Simple enough, right? My hubris got the best of me... Supersonic led to my downfall, as Deckard hurt himself three times in a row. There was nothing I could do but accept defeat as he withered away and died. R.I.P. Deckard, level 22 Charmelion. You will forever be remembered and missed.

Soon enough I shall attempt this challenge again, perhaps with a Bulbasaur! And I will do it right by not overtraining my pokemon!
