You can still easily 3 * a th 7 with dragons

Learning to use ground troops is a good idea but dragons still work fine at th7. Use 3 lightning spells to take out 1 air defense then attack with the dragons from the same side the air defenses are left. I usually send dragon attackers max loons in their clan castle. If nobody in your clan has max loons just take the highest loons you can in it.

pentaloons @ th9 work better against centralized AD or spread out AD??

Take 10 level 2 dragons, 3 level 3+ lightning spells and a cc full of max loons. It's hard not to 3 star.

That's my point. Those attacks offer no challenge to attack and are a waste of time and lots of elixir. Should focus more on strategic ground attacks since they will become the norm on TH8, 9, 10, and 11. Unless you are a huge fan of Hounds and Loons.
