Dont use any gems even if the game tells you to. Ignore it.

Buy everything you can. Farm all the time. Protect only your storages and possibly collectors. Forget the cups and leagues.
Raid only bases with big loots.
Dont upgrade town hall before everything else is maxed.
use gems only for buikders until you have 5 of them. Then only to boost barracks while farming.

Completely maxed out my defenses, troops, spells, traps, bombs, & buildings. All Lego walls & both my heroes are level 16.

Maxed out gold storages, almost maxed elixor, maxed out CC storages, & 200k In each of my gold collectors.

My walls were only level 7 whenever I was done with everything else, so it was definitely a grind, but I enjoyed the shit out of it. I practically farmed my entire base while in gold 2 - gold 1 if anyone was curious.

I got about 68 Lavas down and my BK 16 and AQ 15. I've been so tempted to make the jump to th10 but you need to be patient.
