You got a firewall with ur dsl service
3 things you gotta do

1)
Go to control panel
Network connections
Right click LAC (Local Area Connection)
Click on the Advanced Tab
Make sure that crap isnt on

2)
Go to your virus checker
Disable it or view how to disable the firewall it gives (there is a way, if you cant figure out jus dont load it with d2)

3)
Go to your router setup its probably internet address: 192.168.1.1 is the usual for your LOCAL network (meaning ur computers connected etc)
Enter ADMIN as the password, thats pretty much the default, seeing as how u just got ur LAN setup, im betting that pw should work
Click on Advanced tab
Click on Forwarding tab
On the left for the name jus type something like Diablo 2
For the EXT ports put in 6112 to 6112 and on the next line repeat but put in 4000 to 4000, also its Protocol TCP, so chk that box for both entries and put in ur ip address.
Hit Apply
Restart machine
Load D2

doc- its nice to hear there are people besides me, you and duped that value pally combat charms

brook- i have a question, my bros comp is connected to the router directly (with an ethernet cable or whatever its called) but i have a wireless connection to it, does that affect any of the things you said? like should i do something differently?
my routers setup adress IS 192.168.1.1 ive typed it in so many time i got the shit memorized

it says im connected and that the signal strength is "excellent" but yet it takes sites longer to load then it did on 56k, some sites dont even work, like areat summit, or when i try to send a pm

i only understand three words and numbers when it comes to computers, hard drive (and how many gigs are on it), the ram and the number after it, and the prossecer and its speed
so any other words i might not understand try and help me out with please smile.gif

oh btw, check this, i called the router tech support # yesterday and they picked up the phone and i heard them talkin about a football game then they just hung up, then i called them today and those dickheads had me on hold for about 45 mins before i gave up and just hung up
im seriously considering takin this pos router and beatin it with a baseball bat until its in a million pieces and sendin it back n sayin it was defective and gettin one from a dif company

oh btw, i dl'ed the patch from www.battle.net but i still cant get on bnet, it says i need to connect to my isp

nvm, im all good now, everythings workin fine, i couldnt get to the site to dl aim earlier, sorry bout that brook, but thanks a lot for tryin to help me, i really apreciate it man, no one post in here anymore, this thread has been spamed to hell and back, im gonna make a new one
