Hey i am following Christop03's Popout Tutorial http://forums.d2jsp.org/topic.php?t=69528009&f=246 and can not get past part 8. "Select the laying with your background and alt+click the line between layers"

This is what i have

I can not figure out how to get the shape i made to take the color of the background and look like his in the following step, i have tried alt+clicking on all layers but no luck. I think i have done a previous step wrong, any help or suggestions would get great thanks!

you need to have the background on top of that shape and then do the alt-click (or just right click it and choose "create clipping mask")

When i move the background on top of the shape and then right click "create clipping mask" i get this?:



/e If i hide the original background i get this, so close but still cant get the shape to be the same as the background?

Your background layer is set to color dodge why?
Set it to normal instead

and in the guide i am following he said set it to color dodge but i may have not read it correctly, first time using PS.

I think it's cause you were supposed to merge your background layers
