Just started making sigs for myself and for entertainment... can't see any creative ways to add text to a sig!

Is adobe illustrator or something required? or can anyone give a few tips!

you do not need illustrator for anything really, other than vectoring or something, but that doesnt really apply to text.
just use the text tools, find good fonts, and use proper effects.

use photobucket to upload and theres a wide variety of editing especially nice texts

Typo is one of the hardest things in signature design, to make look good. It takes a lot of practice.
