I know it is probably in the guide/tut but I couldn't find it. I just need a simple way to lift a specific part of an image from the whole. Like lifting a character off an entire image. I use CS4 and I use a mac (not sure if it makes a different from windows to mac on CS4)

For example to better explain what I mean. Like taking the blue STi from this and have it on its own.

1) You could just erase the background around it
2) You can use the lasso/magnetic lasso tool to select around the object and either move it where ever or invert the selection and delete everything around it

make sure before you do this do add alpha layer so that it's transparent. otherwise when u cut it out, the rest will be white.

Do NOT do this

use the pentool to create your selection

i always use erase for sigs lawl because im bad @ using pentool-quickselection, and lasso tool. :(
erasing is easy for me.
