Just go and google PS tuts there are tons out there and learn that way.

don't rush it though, it takes time. start with googling beginner tuts as mentioned before

i need help with backgrounds, cuz when i do it, it looks so basic lol

play around with every tool until you get the feel of how everything works. I'm not saying that i am any pro, but i do feel that i have enough knowledge to say that if you just mess around with everything then you will find your way. also like the above said, google PS tuts and that link that x_hurricane_x will do wonders for making signatures (or just photoshop in general). my current signature doesn't have anything fancy in it at all, but it is still pretty nice for a 10 minute job
