I have the CS5 Masters Collection... but I'm pretty much a noob.

I am pretty good at removing wrinkles, spots, fixing bumps, marks, fixing hair etc with the spot healing tool, good enough to remove entire people without it looking smudedge or anything (I only just found out there are better ways) I can also improve the definition through unsharpen (really good at this now) and i'm 'okay' at doing a background blur to make you focus on the person but I get funny edges when I paint / clear the blur off the person its to straight lined around the person.

I am wanting to lighten the skin tone a little and also want to replace the background with something either a black background or maybe if I find a picture on the internet to put that behind.. but have no idea how to do this...

Please help :)

Use to pen tool to very carefully outline anything you want to cut out, right click the path you just made -> make selection -> cut/copy. Takes practice though, I suck at rendering.
