Take a brush and click (maybe a few times, erase a bit, etc.)

That's basically what it looks like without the render; 30 second job with a brush & eraser (Diferent brush; didn't have any grunge brushes - Diference colour backgruond aswell )

Paint bucket tool; Most likely under gradient if you just got Photoshop. (Been helping a friend out with some of this stuff, he just got Photoshop lastnight)
