so i'm new to gimp(d/led it yesterday) i made my current sig but i was wondering if i wanted to remove the what goes around...comes around how would i do that WITHOUT fucking the picture up or would i have to start from scratch?

well when people put watermarks on there shit so ppl dont steal it how do they remove the watermarks? or do they just have 2 saves?

They can have 1 save if they want, but to have 1 save you have to save it as an xcf file so it will save with the layers

oh yea i guess the watermark could be a layer... never thought about it like that

well, actually you should remember:
use always new layers for like everything new or different you try ;)
you can easily change it and simply remove ;)

I usually save my stuff 2 times; one as a .xcf and then as png (or gif premitting)

also, before i apply a layer mask, i always save a copy of the mask before i applied it just incase i need to mess with the mask later. I just duplicate it, turn of vision for it, and move it to the bottom of the list.

To take out that part, you could use the clone/heal tool. Or even the smudge tool. All you want to do is focus on getting rid of the text and making it look as natural as possible. If you become really good at this, it can open a lot of windows of opportunity for you where you can change the picture how you want it to look (to an extent) You have to learn to find similarties among parts of the sig :)
