My second day using gimp also. im getting used to the tools,adding brushes, etc its pretty cool. Just read a lot of Tut's it helps a lot and you should get the hang of it. :)

the tag lacks blending, and depth overall
he choice in colors and effects is bland, and the text is a terrible tbh

good try tho ;)
