Hello. I have written a plugin like this before however I think I gave up on it and tossed the code cuz the math was too complicated. However I want to restart the project again from scratch. I am developing a plugin for Truespace 6.6 (7.6 modeler side) that will create geometry along the edges of an object. However I am having a hard time figuring out what to call it. I have previously called it Strutedge and Edgemodeler. However i think these names aren't that great.
The plugin will take 2 objects. The first main object is the target object which I will build onto it's edges. The 2nd object is a profile, 2 dimensional polygon and can consist of 3-30(or more) vertices. The profile will be copied, extruded and then placed parallel on the edge of the main object. Then this "strut" will be rotated so one of it's edges is aligned to the normal of the main object edge (this is the really hard part of the code).
I've made this plugin for Truespace and a script for C4D, however my math skills suck and I could never really get the rotations right for C4D. I like to keep this plugin free of charge and I plan on adding animation options to it. I program using Delphi 7 lite and a few other Delphi plugins that Scott Miles (Primitive Itch) and I wrote many years ago. I still make updates time to time.
Visit my photobucket gallery for some images I posted using my current plugins, math, and other software.
