Photoshop 6.0 is pretty old, you should definitely upgrade.
I think you have downloaded either .rar or .zip files, and you need to unzip them.
Google for:
WinZip
Winrar
7zip

another question about c4ds how do i get a c4d without a white or black backgrond? do i have to mask it or is there and easier way?

the problem considering lack of tools is caused by the fact that PS 6.0 is waaay old, it's ancient man
if the c4d is saved as a .tiff for instance, there should be a transparency channel in the channels palette. ctrl+click it and u got the c4d selected
if it's flat jpeg, gif or w/e then u may try using rgb channels or just paste the whole thing with black/white and pay around with layer blending modes
