this users signature has some pen tool lines at the arm
how could i do this simple effect?
try to deepening it as much as possible
i can hardly figure where the pen tool is ^^

press p
then make the lines
right click
stroke
brush
enter

i see
but it's a very soft line
not very noticeable

change the size of your brush to a bigger one and try stroking it again with the brush
also on this particular sig the stimulate pressure (or something) was used, you'll see that box in the stroke window

[ed] i remember i did a tutorial on this back in the day, not sure where it is now though
