I have Photoshop CS3 on my other computer but accidently erased a layer thing so now I can't add layers and that is kind've confusing. Is GIMP okay for starting out?

Photoshop is 10 times better. I've never worked in gimp but i think, when you work in gimp and when you changing it for photoshop.. it will be hard, na'sayin?
