How do you add them in? Do you just drag and drop or what?

Yup, find a render and drag it from that frame to the image you want it in, press ctrl + u to change the colour of it

When I do that it just replaces everything.

You're going to want to change the Layer Style. The most popular is Colour Dodge, but sometimes it looks odd (the darker the stock, the worse it'll look).

You can have the raw c4d changed in the layer style (color dodge/pin light/linear dodge )
or you can apply a 4px Gaussian blur and then mess around with the layer style ( this effect is pretty useful If your image is too dark in some parts )

Also, Make sure that the c4d render is a png ( a jpg one will have a white background and the c4d image will cover your base image )
