hey i just got photoshop and ive been looking how to learn to use it good

i was wondering if someone could tell me where to start off

ive read some tuts but they say stuff like 'make this type of brush' and i have no clue what they are talking about

it would be nice if someone could tell me some beginner stuff / tell me where to get brushes n how to use them and stuff like that

brush is a kind of pen you can paint with
but well you should start with tring out every tool how it work and what you can do with it

one tut said 'make yourself a cross brush'

how do you do that?

Practise makes perfect, before moving onto a tutorial.
Try out yourself, mess about a little bit.
When you go straight into tutorials, you pick up another persons methods.
Try on your own first, then refer to a tutorial, be creative.

Also if you wanted to make a brush, open a new document, whatever size. Draw whatever you want, and then go to Edit > Define Brush Preset, there you have it

are brushes better then not using brushes?
