Put a render on, which is on 2nd layer.

How do i color the abstract pen background 2 colors?

I cant figure it out with the gradiant.

try it with an adjustment layer over your first layer
you do it by clicking on the half white half black circle below the layer screen and then make a gradient map or if you want only add 1 color take photo filter
