an image into photoshop, it loses all its color's and i get the image but its all grey and white.

make sure the document type is rgb color, not greyscale

That would be the document type.
The image you are pasting may have been created in a different color scheme (RGB vs CMYK vs etc).

If it happens all the time perhaps you are making new PS files in the wrong color mode (RGB is better for web and CMYK is better for print)
