Get an image with no BG...

Im using PS, and I use the magic wand, and I delete the white background, but then when I go to put the image on my website, it has that checker board background. that filters over to the site, and its annoying as shit. so, if Anyone can remind me how to completely get rid of the background. all of it. so the image layers over whatever I set it on.

make sure that when you delete, you see a checker board patter. if it does, when you save it as .png then it should have a transparent bg.
