Alrighty, so what I'm wondering is how people take a high quality render and somehow delete the background, making it transparent.

For example, I want to make a signature with this photo:



How would I get all the white to become transparent? Thanks for the help

you have to cut it out, the easiest ways are to use the eraser, freeform pen tool or for more complicated pictures http://www.photoshopcafe.com/tutorials/masking/masking.htmor. you can also buy expensive programs/plugins that can do it for you

thanks, I was looking though some tutorials there, but I didn't know what i was looking for.

So I'm guessing there is no super fast way O well, I'f I'm going for quality it'd rather spend more time on it.

you could try the magic wand tool if you're really lazy~

Yea I've done that, but on some images it doesn't get 100% of it or it grabs some extra background that I don't need

I use the eraser tool and delete all of the white.

Duplicate layer -> disable background ->
Select -> Color Range -> adjust fuzziness -> magic wand the white in the pic -> delete background
