are fireworks and photoshop pretty comparable? i have used photoshop trial, and it has run out, but my mom has fireworks and im wondering if they pretty much do the same thing

looking to make sigs/avas, just wanna no if fireworks can do things like crop out a image and things of that nature

Basically FW is the watered down version of PS.
iirc FW cant open psd's, but then I havent used it for a few years.
