that depands there are lot of effective ways to extract it out
for different type of images and color contrast

i use these methods

high- mid contrast
Magic easer with a jumped dupe layer works fine
control ur torlence depanding on image

high contrast
make new layer
and use layer tool and cut out the contrasted part that u need
and use that as ur selection tool

low low contrast
maunally do it happy.gif"

good color contrast
use color channels and view which one is highly contracted and dupe channel
and then use level tool to get the result or fill in white/black on the spot that is left out or also need

or u can jst render over it without taking it out happy.gif
sometimes it works wanders with some blending
