so yeah so a school project i need to make a cd label, and its going good and all... but i need to crop the image so that its borders are round (like a cd) and the middle needs to be cut out also (like around the clear 1.5 inch center)

when ever i select the proper area with the elliptical tool, and hit delete. photoshop says "adobe photoshop cs3 extended: could not complete your request because the smart object is not directly editable"

i dunno what to do, please help with "simple" instructions.

I´d try to open up a new transparent file in any size. Then u choose a circle in size of the cd cover around ur image icon_pointr.gif right click icon_pointr.gif layer by cut. Then there should be a new clean layer with only the cd shape. remove the layer below and then try to get ur new won cd layer into the new canvas u opened. Mby I explained abit confusing but try as well as u can.

thanks, i was able to figure it out with your instructions tongue.gif

photo shop is neat... but sucks when you dont know what your doing lol
