i need to create that block type background as seen here in Stunnas sig..anyone got tips?

Well..It looks like just a pattern on overlay I think.
New document icon_pointr.gif what appears to be around 60x35 icon_pointr.gif use the marquee tool to make that pattern icon_pointr.gif edit > define pattern icon_pointr.gif fill with it on a new layer in your sig (in white color) icon_pointr.gif set that layer on overlay icon_pointr.gif tadaa IMO smile.gif.

oh and after overlay, he erased parts it from over the render that didn't look good
